Clay courts:  What are they?

The clay courts at the RTC are made of naturally occurring green stone from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.

1) A layer of this material is packed to form a stable sub-base.
2) Then the court is rolled and a thin layer of loose clay material is spread over the court surface.
3) Finally the lines are nailed down.
